I may have mentioned this before, but I love Italy. I visit there at least twice a year, sometimes 4 times. It has got so much that appeals to me, history, culture, clothes and of course, food. What other country in the World do you know that whole families get dressed up to go out and get ice cream in the evening? Put an alleyway in England, we dump rubbish in it, put an alleyway in Italy, someone sticks a restaurant in it.
I spent 4 glorious days in the most beautiful city I have ever seen. Now I have of course visited Rome, Florence and Venice but Verona is now my favourite Italian city. Surrounded by a river that winds around it, with a defensive wall. Let me try and explain, the river for whatever reason (I am no geologist) produces a hairpin shape or the nose of a dolphin. Inside this dolphin nose land shape is where Verona sits and it has a defensive wall spreading from one bend in the river to the other. Inside is all Roman and medieval and full of good restaurants.
Now the sun is out, Wallace & Co is a lovely place to be, a glass of wine and some nibbles on the terrace whilst watching the world go by, not quite the same as Verona but not bad for South West London. I couldn’t help it, I actually ordered seafood linguini, I had only been back a day.
I don’t want to show off but I am only back for a week then I’m off to Vegas, from there Arizona and then I’m back for a day and then I go to Marbella. You may not hear from me for a while, but I don’t want you to worry, I am sure I can manage.
See you soon when I am plumper and browner and I have got holiday stories to tell.
