It’s going to be all change soon at Wallace & Co in Putney, I have managed to acquire most of the shareholding and there is going to be some great changes. My little brother Biffo is back in a supervisory role and I have bought in a talented partner, a local lady named Annabel, bags of experience and bags of passion.
Easter went off well with 2 beautifully roasted legs of lamb at my mum’s. All the family there and also managed a little bit of shopping and got a nice antique cupboard in Herne Bay.
Back to work I had a really interesting meeting with the BBC around the idea of filming the British Harvest as it happens. I will keep you posted.
I did have very good dinner at St John’s in Clerkenwell. It’s been a while since I ate there, I have to say, and I thought it was wonderful. Later in the week, John Torode and I did some cooking demos for the lovely people at The Skylight Café which belongs to the Charity, Crisis.
John and I also managed to appear on the What’s Cooking programme on Channel 4 which was great fun. In order to get there, I had to catch a limo bike taxi in the snow from Richmond to Beckton, possibly the most uncomfortable hour I have ever spent. And I honestly believed I may have had a frost bitten chin!
I have just spent the weekend at the lovely Lifehouse in Essex. It’s my second visit and it is such a calming retreat. I do recommend it.
Next week I am doing something very interesting with Heathrow Airport, can’t tell you anymore for now and I am also attending the wedding of two people I introduced to each other. It’s the first time I’ve ever done that and I am still impressed by my choice and insider knowledge, congratulations Mark and Jo!
