Eat Well for Less and Cooking at Home

I have finished filming Eat Well for Less and I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s a fascinating subject and I have loved filming it. We follow families from around the Country and we try to help them reduce their big shopping bills through a variety of methods. At one point, we take all the food out of their kitchen and give it back to them in clear white and cream packaging so they don’t know what we’ve swapped. We also, with the help of experts, investigate the difference in prices of everyday items, like bread, juice and yoghurt. I can’t tell you when it’s coming out, I don’t know yet.

I have decided to eat out less and cook more at home with my girlfriend, Anna. As Anna is Italian and my favourite food is the food of Italy, we have decided to go cover to cover with Marcella Hazan, working our way through sauces, pastas, breads, soups, meats, fish and of course the odd dessert. So far so good, it’s been great fun and no cock ups!

I had a very nice dinner at Reads in Faversham. Lovely looking place with its own gardens, good food, nice staff but I was really impressed with their wine list. A great wine list and I have never seen so many quality wines offered in half bottle. Gives you a chance to sample some really good ones without spending a fortune.

Last note is the lovely day I spent at The Goring Hotel, actually met Mr Goring this time. It’s tucked away behind Buckingham Palace; it’s got a lovely garden, very comfy lounge and a good restaurant. I had sweetbread followed by a pork chop with an affogatto to finish.

This weekend sees me at the Hampton Court Food Show where I will be exhibiting my firepit and grill. I will be at Tottenham next weekend as I am now working with the caterers on the food at an executive level. I will be at a birthday bash at Wentworth on Wednesday and of course more Italian cooking with Anna. Very much looking forward to ricotta and anchovy canapés.
